As an Iowa based wedding photographer; I was so excited to head to Downtown Chicago to photograph these two lovebirds!  Chicago is one of my favorite cities ever; especially the Lincoln Park area.  It is like this little nature sanctuary in the middle of the city; almost like two different worlds!  Lincoln Park is home to some fantastic restaurants and shopping as well as the Lincoln Park Zoo(also one of my favorite places ever!)

We started out at the Chicago Historical Society Museum on the back stairs overlooking Lincoln Park and the south pond area.  I just love the architecture and character of all the buildings.  There was a wedding later that day at the Historical Society and it was going to be beautiful!

We continued on through the paths, flower gardens and neared the South Pond area which is stunning.  It is also a very popular location because you literally have so many vantage points of the city.  Grass, flowers, ponds, and the Chicago city skyline can be seen from the bridge over the South Pond.

Erica and Lee live right in the heart of Lincoln Park so it only made sense that we spent our time in and around the park.  We headed over to North Avenue Beach via the bridge over Lake Shore Drive.  We had to stop because the city skyline is so pretty from the bridge there too!

The beach is so pretty in this area and is a hot spot throughout the summer.  Luckily it was pretty quiet for our shoot and we had the beach to ourselves.  Of course nothing is more fun than running through the sand on the beach like little kids-which of course we did!  The lake is pretty cold this time of year but we did splash around a bit while we were there.

And of course we had to make a quick stop to the Lasalle Street Bridge since it overlooks the area where they spend so much of their time in the city; besides the Lincoln Park area.  We strolled along the Chicago riverwalk and ended up at the place where Lee popped the question; their rooftop overlooking the city.  I mean; could those views get any better? Which way do you look? Lake Michigan?  Downtown Chicago? Or out to the suburbs?  Each direction is stunning; but not as stunning as Erica and Lee!!  We popped some champagne and finished the night with a drink of bubbly!

I cannot wait for their wedding back in Iowa at Rapid Creek Cidery in Iowa City next summer!  Aren’t these two the cutest?  Follow along for their wedding next summer!
